What can I expect from therapy with you?I take a collaborative approach to therapy. You can expect me to create a safe, calming, and nonjudgmental environment for you to explore your concerns. Every therapy session is unique, and your experience will be customized to meet your needs. Together, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and determine your goals. Building on your strengths and resources, we will work together to create growth and bring about positive change.
-
How is therapy structured?Depending on the situation, therapy can either be short or long-term. There is not a definitive number of sessions required to complete treatment. You are in charge of your growth and treatment. Therapy can end when you meet your goals or at any time. Typically, therapy sessions occur weekly or bi-weekly and last 50 minutes in length.
-
Is therapy confidential?Therapy is dependent on trust in the relationship between therapist and client. Confidentiality is the cornerstone of this relationship and helps create a safe and private environment that allows for vulnerability. What you share in therapy will be kept confidential. However, I am required by law to report to the appropriate officials cases of abuse, neglect; exploitation of a child, elder, or disabled person; or if I think you are a physical threat to yourself or to someone else.

You are a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT). Can you help me understand your degree and training? As a LMFT, I was trained to work with individuals, couples, and families. My education included training in psychotherapy and family systems. When discussing concerns, I consider the multiple contexts we encounter–family members, friends, the workplace, and society.
-
What therapy models do you utilize?I utilize an integrative approach, meaning I meet with clients and tailor my approach to their presenting concerns. I draw from evidence-based practices and often include interventions from the following: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness-Based practices, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

I'd like to work with you. How do I become a client?I am so happy to hear that you are interested in working together! The therapeutic relationship is an important agent of change. While I enjoy working with a wide range of clients, it's also important to make sure that I would be a good fit for you and your unique treatment goals. First, I recommend contacting me and letting me know what you are hoping to address in therapy. We will discuss whether my experience and expertise will be a good fit for you. Next, we will set up a time to meet and I’ll send over the intake paperwork. Then, we get to meet for your first session!

What is your fee and do you accept insurance? My fee is $175 per 50-minute individual session and $200 for 50-minute couple and family sessions. I am an out-of-network provider. Clients self-pay, which helps ensure client confidentiality and provides greater flexibility in our work together. If you have a PPO, I can provide a statement for insurance reimbursement to submit to your insurance company. I recommend calling your insurance to find out whether they will offer reimbursement for an out-of-network provider. If you are looking for an in-network provider (someone who accepts insurance), you may contact your insurance company to obtain a list of providers or search via www.psychologytoday.com
